l am having my roof fixed and when l pay the contractors to do it, will l need to include taxes in the bill?

MOst states have no sales taxes on services, but some (NY) do. Most states have sales tax on materials, roofing shingles.

If this roofer is a legitimate business & has a business license, then u wo not have to pay taxes.
l have paid roofers in the past & made sure they gave me a receipt for the work & that they marked it paid in full.
When u look at the bill make sure they have included all sales tax in the bid & that it is marked on the bid.
If u want to protect yourself have the cost of materials backed out of the bid & u pay the material company directly when they deliver the materials, make sure it is a set price upfront.

If there is sales tax on the materials, the contractor should include it in his price.
